team  dynamics

and collaboration

Team dynamics are both formal and information ways of making connections within the work setting and how it relates to their competence. Employees often have many differences that affect how employees work and view company culture. A team might be a specific work group or a division of a larger department. The team usually has different dynamics either within a specific organization or working cross industry or even globally. It involves the way the team interacts and relate to each other. It involves effective listening and sharing feedback. This process works to foster an environment where open and honest communication elevates collaboration. This is beneficial to working through issues and feeling belonging within the group. When teams collaborate in a healthy environment it leads to innovation and discovery.

As a leader in this competency, I am working to create an environment where everyone is free to share ideas and discuss solutions but I am prioritizing clear and meaningful communication. That is key to knowing that everyone is clear on the project objectives. I support my team and guide them by encouraging competition and risk taking. I want to empower them to handle conflicts and learn from outcomes. For teams that work cross industry or globally I implement strategies for Zoom and Slack meetings so everyone is engaged in the project.

The Artifact I chose for Team Dynamics and Collaboration is the analysis I completed on the movie The Long Game for my Organizational Sports Leadership Class OGL-365. The class in itself talked about how several successful sports leaders create an atmosphere where athletes can reach their full potential and even go beyond. In the movie, the coach faces many set backs and obstacles but creates an inclusive and save team dynamic where the athletes themselves have to collaborate to overcome prejudice and conflict. Just like in real life, the coach himself has his own internal struggle to overcome. I feel like it beautifully illustrates the core competency of Team Dynamics and Collaboration.
Artifact
The skill of team dynamics and collaboration is something that I am so glad to have learned more about. I have not had the opportunity to use it at work to a large degree, but having a large family, I am practicing on them. So much of daily life is working with groups of people, some small and some large, so I really love the information I learned regarding this skill. I have tried to encourage more open and meaningful communication when planning or working on a an event together. I have am incredibly inclusive and everyone is invited to the "party" but I have learned that people also need to be part of the shared goal and I am implementing this more with team organization.
